KAPE Expands ‘Yeogigogi’ Features to Support Affordable Livestock-Product Purchases Ahead of Chuseok

[Financial News] The Korea Institute for Animal Products Quality Evaluation (KAPE) announced on the 15th that it had expanded the features of ‘Yeogigogi,’ a livestock-product price information service. Yeogigogi provides price information for nearby livestock-product stores based on users’ locations, helping consumers make economical purchases.
KAPE improved the Yeogigogi service and its features by incorporating feedback gathered at a meeting with consumer organizations held last month. The improvements focus on quickly providing practical discounts and quality information, going beyond simple price comparisons. In cooperation with the Sejong City Urban-Rural Coexistence Bureau, KAPE newly linked livestock-product prices at Singsing Market, a local-food direct-sales store. Consumers can now quickly check prices for fresh local livestock products and purchase them.
Information on about 200 affiliated butcher shops in six regions where the Nonghalsangpum Voucher can be used—including Seoul, Suwon, Wonju, Cheongju, Jeonju and Changwon—can now be identified at a glance through a dedicated brand identity mark. The Nonghalsangpum Voucher is a Zero Pay-linked mobile voucher supported by the Ministry of Agriculture, Food and Rural Affairs (MAFRA). Each person can purchase up to 100,000 won worth of vouchers per month at a 30% discount. The initiative was launched as part of a memorandum of understanding signed in July with the Korea Easy Payment Promotion Agency and the Central Association of Livestock Businesses to link Yeogigogi with the Nonghalsangpum Voucher and promote local butcher shops. KAPE plans to expand the service to affiliated butcher shops nationwide.
In cooperation with the Hanwoo and Han Pork Checkoff Management Committees, KAPE is also providing information on special Chuseok discounts at general butcher shops nationwide. Users can also check information on 271 certified stores nationwide designated as ‘Han Pork Certified Stores’ and ‘Affordable Hanwoo Stores.’ Anyone can use the Yeogigogi service by accessing ‘Dabom Livestock Distribution Information’ via the web or mobile devices.
