Man in His 80s Detained for Wielding Weapon at Passerby in Dongdaemun District: “Concern He Might Flee”

[Financial News] A man in his 80s has been detained after allegedly wielding a weapon and injuring a passerby in Jeonnong-dong, Dongdaemun District, Seoul.
According to legal sources on the 15th, the Seoul Northern District Court, presided over by Chief Judge Kang Young-hoon, conducted a pretrial detention hearing for the man in his 80s, identified as A, who is suspected of attempted murder. The court issued an arrest warrant, citing concern that he might flee.
A is suspected of stabbing a man in his 70s, identified as B, with a weapon at around 8:20 p.m. on the 13th in Jeonnong-dong, Dongdaemun District.
Victim B was taken to a hospital immediately after the incident and was found not to be in life-threatening condition.
Police found A near the scene and arrested him at the scene as he was caught in the act. They are investigating the specific motive and circumstances of the alleged crime.
