[Financial News] Digital X, Mirae Asset Financial Group’s virtual-asset investment platform formerly known as Korbit, and Shinhan Bank held a joint seminar to strengthen their capabilities in responding to new types of phishing.
According to the virtual-asset industry on the 15th, Digital X and Shinhan Bank held the joint seminar that day at Shinhan Bank’s headquarters in Jung-gu, Seoul. This was the second collaborative seminar held by the two companies, following the first in 2023.
The seminar was organized to strengthen the financial sector’s response capabilities ahead of the implementation of a system for responding to new types of phishing, jointly announced by the Financial Services Commission (FSC) and the Financial Supervisory Service in June. The two companies shared practical response measures arising from the system changes and discussed ways to strengthen cooperation in preventing financial fraud.
Specifically, presentations and discussions focused on Shinhan Bank’s response system and major cases involving new types of phishing; major types of phishing occurring at virtual-asset service providers and their response systems; and ways to cooperate in detecting financial fraud and preventing losses.
Digital X’s anti-money laundering (AML) team and fraud detection system (FDS) operations team also participated in the seminar. As financial fraud techniques have become increasingly sophisticated, close cooperation between AML teams, which track criminal funds, and FDS teams, which detect unusual transactions in real time, is emerging as a key element in preventing financial fraud.
Digital X is establishing a response system by reorganizing its internal work processes and systems in line with the relevant regulations scheduled to take effect on October 1.
A Digital X official said, “We will build a user-protection system that meets international standards through close cooperation with banks and strong coordination between our AML and FDS teams.”
Meanwhile, Digital X currently has a real-name-verified account partnership with Shinhan Bank and extended the contract for one year in December last year.
