[Financial News]  A hotel funded by the Korean Teachers' Credit Union (KTCU) is embarking on a new chapter under the Sheraton brand of global hotel chain Marriott. The former The-K Jeju Hotel has undergone a full renovation and adopted a global brand to strengthen its competitiveness in Jeju’s urban hotel market.
According to KTCU on the 15th, the organization held a grand opening ceremony for Sheraton Jeju Hotel on the 14th in Tap-dong, Jeju City.
Sheraton Jeju Hotel is operated by The-K Jeju Hotel, an investment company of KTCU. It began operations on the 1st and is the first Marriott-affiliated branded hotel in Jeju City.
The hotel has 402 rooms, an infinity pool overlooking the sea of Jeju Province, and a large banquet hall that can accommodate up to approximately 1,500 people. It is targeting not only tourists but also MICE demand, including corporate events and international conferences.
Hotel industry officials expect the conversion of an independently branded hotel into a global chain property to help attract foreign tourists and enhance the asset’s competitiveness by leveraging international booking networks and brand recognition.
About 300 people attended the event, including officials from KTCU and Marriott International, as well as figures from Jeju Province and the tourism industry.
KTCU Chairman Jeong Gap-yoon added, "We will do our utmost to establish the hotel as a property that inspires customers, grows together with the local community, and provides greater value to KTCU members."
