Incheon Metropolitan City Development Corporation Reviews 81 Eco-Friendly Housing Energy-Saving Plans Covering 59,000 Households, Leading the Shift Toward Low-Carbon Residential Environments

【Financial News Incheon = Reporter Han Gap-su】 Incheon Metropolitan City Development Corporation (iH), a specialized review institution for energy-saving plans for eco-friendly housing, is leading efforts to create a low-carbon residential environment in Incheon.
Incheon Metropolitan City Development Corporation said on the 15th that it had reviewed a total of 81 energy-saving plans covering 59,134 households from 2022, when it was designated as a specialized review institution for eco-friendly housing energy-saving plans, through September this year.
The review and evaluation of energy-saving plans for eco-friendly housing is a procedure for checking whether multi-unit housing built under an approved housing construction project plan complies with eco-friendly housing design conditions and mandatory requirements in the architectural, mechanical, and electrical sectors. Its purpose is to reduce housing energy consumption and carbon emissions from the design stage.
During the review process, iH analyzes recurring problems by construction discipline and continuously improves unnecessary administrative procedures, thereby reducing the administrative burden on multi-unit housing developers.
iH explained that it is strengthening technical support so that energy-efficient residential environments can also be created through private housing projects in Incheon. 
iH plans to expand specialized training on the “Construction Standards for Energy-Saving Eco-Friendly Housing,” preliminary consultations for multi-unit housing developers, and cooperation with permitting and licensing authorities. It also plans to build a database of the review cases accumulated so far to improve the speed and accuracy of its reviews.
An iH official said, “Reviewing energy-saving plans for eco-friendly housing is more than a simple administrative procedure; it is an important process for reducing citizens’ energy costs and buildings’ carbon emissions.” The official added, “Based on the technical expertise we have accumulated, we will actively support the creation of a sustainable residential environment in Incheon.”
