Gangwon Art & Culture Foundation Presents Awards to Eight Winners of Culture and Arts Innovation Ideas Contest

【Financial News Chuncheon=Kim Ki-seop】The Gangwon Art & Culture Foundation selected eight innovative ideas to respond to the changing cultural environment.
According to the Gangwon Art & Culture Foundation on the 15th, the awards ceremony for the 2026 Gangwon Culture and Arts Innovation Ideas Contest was held that day in the foundation’s conference room. The contest was organized to identify consumer-centered cultural policies and project ideas in response to digital transformation, regional extinction, and cultural disparities, based on input from residents and the culture and arts community.
Last July, the foundation invited submissions in eight categories, including regional cultural policy, the training of culture and arts professionals, and support for culture and arts organizations. Following internal and external evaluations, it selected eight winners: one grand prize, two excellence awards, and five encouragement awards.
The grand prize went to the Gangwon Culture and Arts Career Assetization Project. The excellence awards were given to the Research and Development Support Project for Converting Professional Artists’ Works and the Project to Establish a Support System for Inclusive Culture and Arts Education for People with Disabilities in Gangwon. Other winning ideas addressed various challenges in the culture and arts field, including training professional instructors for artists and supporting young artists.
The winners will receive certificates from the president of the Gangwon Art & Culture Foundation, along with prize money of KRW 1 million for the grand prize, KRW 600,000 each for the excellence awards, and KRW 300,000 each for the encouragement awards. The foundation plans to develop concrete implementation measures so that the ideas identified through the contest can be linked to its policies and projects rather than remaining mere proposals.
HyunSang Shin, president of the Gangwon Art & Culture Foundation, said, "We confirmed new possibilities in proposals from the field, ranging from support for arts education for people with disabilities to support for young artists." He added, "We will work to ensure that the selected ideas lead to actual policies and projects and bring about changes that residents can experience."
