Daegu Council Makes Every Effort to Bring Korea Health Personnel Licensing Examination Institute to Daegu

The incorporated AI·Bio Medicity Daegu Council and local medical and pharmaceutical associations—the Daegu Medical Association, Daegu Dental Association, Daegu Association of Korean Medicine, Daegu Pharmaceutical Association, and Daegu Nurses Association—are making every effort to bring the Korea Health Personnel Licensing Examination Institute and other key public healthcare institutions to Daegu in pursuit of national healthcare development and balanced growth among regions.
The organizations issued a joint statement at Daegu Metropolitan City Hall on the 15th, stating, "We strongly urge the relocation to Daegu of key public healthcare institutions, including the Korea Health Personnel Licensing Examination Institute and the National Institute of Dental Research."
The statement said, "The relocation of the Korea Health Personnel Licensing Examination Institute should be considered in a way that maintains the stability and expertise of national examination operations while contributing to the development of healthcare workforce training and evaluation systems." It added, "Daegu, in particular, has a foundation for research and development, demonstration and commercialization support, as well as a medical ecosystem involving five tertiary hospitals. This would greatly help advance the institute’s examination and evaluation capabilities."
The organizations also argued, "Linking the institute with the technical training infrastructure of the Medical Technology Testing and Training Center, scheduled to open at the end of September in the Daegu-Gyeongbuk Advanced Medical Complex, would help establish the country’s most advanced practical evaluation system for medical professionals and create synergies that would greatly enhance the institute’s examination and evaluation capabilities."
They further urged the government to "carefully consider Daegu’s healthcare infrastructure, the potential for functional links, and the region’s willingness to cooperate when reviewing its public institution relocation policy. We ask that the relocation to Daegu be considered from the perspectives of the institute’s stable operations, long-term development, and balanced national development."
The organizations also agreed to proactively establish a comprehensive support system to ensure the stable settlement of relocated institutions and provide suitable housing and living conditions for their employees.
Bokki Min, chairman of the AI·Bio Medicity Daegu Council, reiterated, "While making the relocation of the Korea Health Personnel Licensing Examination Institute to Daegu our top priority, we plan to pursue the linked relocation of key public healthcare institutions—including the National Institute of Dental Research, the Korea Institute for Healthcare Accreditation, and the Korea Medical Dispute Mediation and Arbitration Agency—in stages." He added, "The relocation of public healthcare institutions to Daegu will be a significant opportunity to promote both regional growth and the development of national healthcare."
