The final settlement benchmark bond for government bond futures is a bond designated by Korea Exchange (KRX) from among government bonds with a six-month interest payment schedule, in accordance with the Derivatives Market Business Regulations. It is a derivative product based on a government bond with a face value of 100 won and a coupon rate of 5% as the underlying asset.
Although such government bonds do not actually exist, the exchange designates a combination of previously issued government bonds with a six-month interest payment schedule that resembles the underlying asset as the final settlement benchmark bond.
Spot yields for each final settlement benchmark bond are calculated and announced daily by the Korea Financial Investment Association (KOFIA) at 11:30 a.m. and 4:00 p.m.
