"Let’s Enhance Global Supply Chain Resilience Through Innovation"

[Financial News] Busan Port Authority (BPA) announced the Busan Port Declaration 2026: Global Port Innovation Pact with representatives of world-class ports.
Busan Port Authority (BPA) said on the 15th that it recently held a Port CEO Roundtable to mark the 150th anniversary of the opening of the Port of Busan. The roundtable was organized to present a new vision for future ports together with world-class ports. Having developed over the past 150 years by learning from the experience of advanced ports, the Port of Busan expressed its determination to lead innovation across the global port industry over the next 150 years.
The event was attended by CEOs of major ports around the world, including the Port of Hamburg, the Port of Los Angeles, the Port of Rotterdam, the Port of Barcelona, the Port of Haropa, and the Port of Ningbo-Zhoushan. Senior officials from the Port of Seattle, the Port of Long Beach, the Port of Singapore, and the Port of Antwerp-Bruges also participated. Kitack Lim, former secretary-general of the International Maritime Organization (IMO), was also present.
The Busan Port Declaration 2026 centers on innovation and solidarity. Participating ports agreed to strengthen the resilience and sustainability of global supply chains through innovation, share the results, and grow together. Specifically, they agreed to improve their ability to respond to crises by linking digital platforms among ports and using artificial intelligence (AI) to predict supply chain risks.
They also agreed to strengthen cooperation to expand the use of eco-friendly fuels and transition to energy-independent ports. To ensure that the benefits of innovation spread beyond a few leading ports to ports worldwide, they will share technology and experience through organizations such as the International Association of Ports and Harbors (IAPH) and the International Maritime Organization (IMO).
Song Sang-geun, president of BPA, said, "The past 150 years of the Port of Busan have been a journey of growth through learning from the experiences of ports around the world. Now, together with major ports worldwide, we will lead innovation and share its results, helping advance ports with growth potential."
