【Jakarta (Indonesia) = Correspondent Aulia Maulida Hamdani】 Hyundai Stargazer ranked third in the Indonesian Light Multi-Purpose Vehicle (LMPV) market, selling 7,101 units from January to August this year.
According to the local automotive industry on the 15th, sales of the six major LMPV models in Indonesia from January to August this year totaled 54,090 units, accounting for 9.02% of total wholesale car sales of 599,491 units.
In terms of sales by model, Toyota Avanza ranked first with 26,465 units (48.9%), followed by Mitsubishi Xpander with 14,920 units (27.5%). Hyundai Stargazer came in third with 7,101 units (13.1%).
The strong sales performance of Hyundai Stargazer is being driven by STARGAZER Cartenz, launched last year. STARGAZER Cartenz previously achieved its highest monthly sales record in July, recording more than 1,100 retail sales. This represents a 55% increase compared with the same month last year and a 42% increase compared with the previous month. In Jakarta, it ranked second in sales among vehicles in the same class by brand.
Hyundai Motor Company is also seeing positive results from competitiveness-enhancing policies such as price discounts. Since early July, Hyundai has offered discounts of up to 50 million rupiah (approximately 3.8 million KRW) on STARGAZER Cartenz, with the prices of Cartenz and STARGAZER Cartenz X starting at 241 million rupiah (approximately 21 million KRW). STARGAZER Cartenz was previously recognized for its overall product quality, including convenience, technology, and safety, as well as its price, after being selected as the "Best Value Family MPV" at the "Indonesia Automotive Awards 2026."
Lee Keun-young, head of Hyundai Motor Company's Indonesian subsidiary, commented, "Through bold price adjustments, we were able to improve the accessibility of STARGAZER Cartenz and provide greater value to consumers." He added, "Based on the strong market response and continued growth in retail sales, we expect it to soon establish itself as one of the 10 best-selling car models in Indonesia."
Hyundai Motor Company is also strengthening its competitiveness in customer service after vehicle sales. Franciscus Surjopranoto, Chief Operating Officer (COO) of Hyundai Motor Company's Indonesian subsidiary, explained, "Through myHyundaiCare, we provide free regular inspection services, emergency roadside assistance, premium loaner car services, extended warranties, 24-hour emergency support, parts supply support, and a used-car residual-value guarantee program."
Hyundai Motor Company's strategy is to expand its brand presence in the family vehicle market by using Hyundai Stargazer to enhance price competitiveness and product quality in Indonesia's LMPV market while also strengthening after-sales service.
