What regulatory improvements can boost platform competitiveness in the AI era? Korea Internet Corporations Association to hold seminar on the 22nd

[Financial News] A forum will be held to discuss regulatory improvements and policy directions aimed at strengthening the competitiveness of Korea’s platform industry as the market is reshaped around artificial intelligence (AI) and data.
The Korea Internet Corporations Association said on the 15th that it will host a seminar titled “Strategic Tasks for Strengthening the Competitiveness of the Platform Industry” at 2 p.m. on the 22nd at Post Tower in Jung-gu, Seoul, together with the Digital Platform Policy Forum and the Korean Association of Information and Communications Law.
The seminar will address regulatory challenges and policy directions for enhancing the competitiveness of Korean platform companies in the global market, which is being reshaped around AI and data.
Lee Gyeong-seon of the Korea Information Society Development Institute and Professor Seon Jiweon of Hanyang University School of Law will deliver presentations. They will identify regulatory challenges hindering innovation in the platform industry and propose measures to strengthen its competitiveness.
Professor Lee Seong-yeop of Korea University (KU), who also chairs the Korean Association of Information and Communications Law, will moderate the panel discussion. Participants include Konkuk University Professor Yong-Seok Hwang; Hwang Hye-seon, an attorney at Kim & Chang; Park Seong-sik, head of external relations at Nol Universe; Kim Yong-hwan, a doctor at NAVER; KIM SUNGOK of the Korea Information Society Development Institute; Jo Yeong-gi, secretary-general of the Korea Internet Corporations Association; and Koo Hee-sun, head of the Platform and OTT Policy Team at the Ministry of Science and ICT.
Park Seong-ho, president of the Korea Internet Corporations Association, said, “As the global regulatory landscape is now shifting toward deregulation, this is the time to move away from uniform regulations and transition to strategic policies that strengthen the competitiveness of domestic companies.” He added, “I hope this seminar will serve as an opportunity to strengthen the competitiveness of the platform industry.”
