Samsung Electronics Service announced on the 15th that it had obtained ISMS-P certification, overseen by the Ministry of Science and ICT and the Personal Information Protection Commission (PIPC).
ISMS-P is South Korea’s highest-level integrated certification system for comprehensively evaluating companies’ information security and personal information protection management systems. Certification is granted after an assessment by an accredited review body, followed by final deliberation by the Korea Internet & Security Agency (KISA) and the Financial Security Institute.
To obtain certification, companies must pass suitability assessments covering 101 criteria, including the establishment and operation of an information security management system, system security management, and protective measures at each stage of personal information processing.
Samsung Electronics Service has continuously strengthened its information security management system. In 2021, it obtained Information Security Management System (ISMS) certification for six systems, including its website and chatbot, and expanded the certification coverage to include its sign-language counseling service and recruitment website in 2024. This year, it newly obtained ISMS-P certification, which also covers personal information protection.
The company is also strengthening its internal security management. It provides information security training to all employees and regularly conducts simulated malicious email exercises and security inspections at service centers.
A Samsung Electronics Service official said, "Obtaining ISMS-P certification is significant because it expands the certification coverage to include personal information protection," adding, "We will continue working to ensure that customers can use Samsung Electronics products with confidence."
