National Joint Memorial Service for Victims of Forced Mobilization by Imperial Japan on the 17th

[Financial News] A nationwide joint memorial service honoring the victims of forced mobilization during the Japanese colonial period will be held simultaneously in Busan and Seoul on the 17th.
The Ministry of the Interior and Safety (MOIS) announced on the 15th that it will hold the "11th National Joint Memorial Service for Victims of Forced Mobilization by Imperial Japan" at 2 p.m. on the 17th at the National Museum of Japanese Forced Mobilization History in Busan and Seoul Metropolitan Government. The event is hosted by the Ministry of the Interior and Safety (MOIS) and organized by the Foundation for Victims of Forced Mobilization by Imperial Japan.
The National Joint Memorial Service has been held annually since 2016 to commemorate those who were sacrificed due to forced mobilization during the Japanese colonial period and to comfort their bereaved families. Approximately 600 people, including bereaved families, citizens, and students, are expected to attend this year's event.
The event will be held at the Memorial Park on the 7th floor of the National Museum of Japanese Forced Mobilization History in Busan and at the Multipurpose Hall on the 8th floor of Seoul Metropolitan Government in Seoul. The Chuncheon City Lifelong Learning Center will also broadcast the events held in Busan and Seoul live.
This year, students from Busan Gamman Middle School will also attend the event. The Ministry of the Interior and Safety (MOIS) explained that it invited the students so that they could experience the history of forced mobilization firsthand.
The event will proceed in the order of religious rites, national rites, reading of winning entries from the forced mobilization essay contest, memorial performances, memorial addresses, and the laying of wreaths and burning of incense. For those unable to attend in person, the entire event will be live-streamed on the official YouTube channels of the Ministry of the Interior and Safety (MOIS) and the Foundation for Victims of Forced Mobilization by Imperial Japan.
Prior to the event, the National Museum of Japanese Forced Mobilization History operated a "Pre-Memorial Week for Victims of Forced Mobilization" during the second and third weeks of September. Activities included a stamp tour called the "Footprints of Memory Challenge" and a quiz competition related to forced mobilization.
Minister of the Interior and Safety Yun Ho-jung stated, "This nationwide joint memorial service will be a valuable opportunity to fully embrace the pain of the victims and their families and to properly reflect on the history we must not forget," adding, "I hope the public will join together in mourning so that we can embrace the pain of the past and move forward toward a hopeful future."
