[Financial News] As interest in 'Slow Aging,' 'Longevity—extending healthy life expectancy,' and 'Wellness' spreads across all generations, companies are moving beyond their existing businesses to expand into the wellness and longevity markets.
A 1,000-trillion-won market has opened... From Lululemon Athletica to Aman, companies expand into wellness
As the desire to maintain a youthful, energetic body free from disease—rather than simply living longer—has become a defining concern of modern life, interest in health management is stronger than ever.
According to the latest report from the Global Wellness Institute (GWI), a global wellness research organization, the global wellness economy has already surpassed $6.8 trillion, or approximately 9,200 trillion won, and is expected to grow rapidly at an annual average rate of 7.6%. The market is projected to approach $9.8 trillion, or approximately 13,300 trillion won, by 2029. Longevity has become a global lifestyle trend, with world-renowned leaders—including Silicon Valley entrepreneur Bryan Johnson, OpenAI's Sam Altman, and Jeff Bezos—making major investments in reversing biological aging.
The boundaries between industries are also rapidly disappearing. Global companies are increasingly expanding beyond their core businesses into the wellness and longevity markets.
Lululemon Athletica, which built its name as a yoga-wear brand, has transformed itself into a company offering physical and mental wellness solutions. It has moved beyond apparel sales by combining a partnership with global connected-fitness platform Peloton, regular publication of global well-being reports, and community-based mental-health and exercise programs.
Hims & Hers, a U.S. health-tech unicorn that began with subscription services for hair-loss and erectile-dysfunction medications, has rapidly grown into a whole-body, life-stage wellness platform. It has expanded its medical offerings to include GLP-1 personalized weight-loss programs, which are gaining attention as obesity treatments, as well as cardiovascular disease prevention and anti-aging skin care.
Aman, the world-renowned ultra-luxury resort brand, has also moved beyond simple spa services. It launched wellness centers offering advanced blood tests, immune-boosting intravenous infusions, and sleep-optimization therapy. More recently, it introduced Janu, a 4,000-square-meter wellness-focused brand in Tokyo and other locations, positioning itself at the forefront of the high-end longevity market.
Hair-loss community evolves... 'Moasis AI' declares itself a global longevity platform
Amid these broader trends, 'Moasis,' a social community built around hair-loss information, has announced its transformation into a global longevity platform combining AI with health data.
Moasis AI announced on the 15th that it had completely revamped its existing web community, 'Moasis,' into 'Moasis AI,' a platform offering personalized health solutions based on individual health data and artificial intelligence (AI), and would officially launch a dedicated mobile app.
With the official slogan 'Beyond hair loss, design a healthy life (Global Longevity Platform Moasis AI),' Moasis AI is characterized by its expansion of hair-loss care into a central pillar of whole-body health and aging management.
The most notable feature is the AI chatbot 'MOA AI.' Built on artificial-intelligence technology from Upstage, a global large language model (LLM) startup, MOA AI provides precise, personalized health solutions in real time in response to users' questions.
The platform is also introducing a 'genetic testing-linked analysis service' for proactive health management. The service is intended to help users identify their innate genetic characteristics in advance and respond proactively not only to hair loss but also to various health issues. Genetic testing is offered as an optional service, and to mark the launch, the company is providing the first 1,000 users with a special opportunity to try it for 9,900 won through the end of September.
A Moasis AI representative said, "True longevity begins by moving beyond a one-dimensional approach that addresses only the symptom of hair loss and instead managing dietary habits, lifestyle, and genetic factors together." The representative added, "We will continue enhancing the service so that anyone can easily build their own wellness data through the Moasis AI app and design a healthy life."
Meanwhile, the dedicated 'Moasis AI' app has been available for free download from the Google Play Store and App Store since the 15th.
