Lee & Ko Wins in Two Categories at The Asia Legal Awards [Law Firm News]

[Financial News] Lee & Ko announced on the 15th that it had won individual awards in both the ESG Deal and Projects categories at The Asia Legal Awards 2026.
The Asia Legal Awards is an annual ceremony hosted by a legal publication operated by ALM Media, a global provider of legal and business information. It recognizes law firms, attorneys, legal transactions and in-house legal teams that have achieved major accomplishments in Asia, selecting winners by category.
Kwangyul Kim of Lee & Ko’s Projects and Energy Team was named Projects Lawyer of the Year. He is a member of the 30th class of the Judicial Research and Training Institute.
The Taepyeong Salt Farm Solar Power Plant project, for which Lee & Ko provided legal advice, was selected as ESG Deal of the Year. Lee & Ko’s Projects and Energy Team, Environmental Team and other members of its ESG Group advised on the development of large-scale solar power projects using salt-damaged farmland and former salt-farm sites across the country.
Lee & Ko has consolidated its ESG-related practices—including environmental matters, industrial safety, renewable energy, compliance, corporate advisory services and labor law—into its ESG Group and provides related legal advice.
Recently, the firm supported the Ministry of Climate, Energy and Environment in designing and implementing the Korean Green Chemistry System, and worked on establishing a sustainability-assessment framework for chemicals. It is also expanding its work in carbon reduction and ESG response by advising on the development of methodologies for greenhouse-gas reduction projects in agriculture that use methane-reducing microbial technology.
Kwangyul Kim, who was named Projects Lawyer of the Year, has provided legal advice for more than 20 years in power generation and energy, renewable energy, project finance, construction and social overhead capital (SOC), domestic and overseas investment, real estate development and development finance. He currently leads Lee & Ko’s Projects and Energy Team.
