[Financial News] Shinsegae Department Store is introducing premium wine gift sets for Chuseok, targeting wine enthusiasts and collectors.
According to industry sources on the 15th, Shinsegae Department Store will offer a selection of wines for this year’s Chuseok holiday, including exclusive products carefully selected by the House of Shinsegae Wine Cellar, a Burgundy Montrachet collection, wines entering their optimal drinking period, and highly rare collectible wines. The selection is notable for its broad range of leading producers and vintages from major wine regions around the world, rather than being limited to a particular country or region.
This year, the House of Shinsegae Wine Cellar is showcasing wines from renowned producers worldwide under the theme of “Pinot Noir.” It currently carries around 1,500 Pinot Noir wines from approximately 200 producers. It has also secured wines from all nine producers that received the highest rating, “3 Grapes,” in MICHELIN Grapes, which was launched for the first time this year.
The store has also prepared a “Montrachet Collection” for white-wine enthusiasts. Montrachet is a Burgundy Grand Cru white wine produced in limited quantities and in high demand. Shinsegae Department Store will present wines from major appellations, including Montrachet and Bâtard-Montrachet, as well as Puligny-Montrachet and Chassagne-Montrachet.
The retailer has also prepared relatively accessible wine gift sets. It has broadened the range of choices with best-selling sets featuring signature wines from major producers worldwide, along with Old World and New World wine sets. Rare wines targeting wine enthusiasts and collectors will also be available.
An “Ex-Cellar” collection, sourced directly from producers’ cellars, is also being offered. Through direct transactions with wineries, the retailer will present wines that are difficult to find in South Korea, including Liber Pater, Harlan, and Sine Qua Non.
Choi Won-joon, executive vice president in charge of food and lifestyle at Shinsegae Department Store, said, “For this Chuseok holiday, we planned differentiated wine gift sets centered on exclusive wines available only at Shinsegae and signature wines from the world’s renowned wine regions.” He added, “From premium wines entering their optimal drinking period to highly rare collectible wines, we expect to satisfy a wide range of customer preferences.”
