[Financial News] Samsung Asset Management has launched an exchange-traded fund (ETF) focused on U.S. data-storage companies. As the amount of data that must be processed and stored grows with the spread of artificial intelligence (AI), the fund is expected to achieve structural growth.
According to Samsung Asset Management on the 15th, KODEX U.S. AI Memory TOP 2 Plus was newly listed that day.
KODEX U.S. AI Memory TOP 2 Plus invests approximately 50% in Micron Technology and SanDisk, and approximately 30% in Seagate Technology and Western Digital. These companies are leading U.S. manufacturers of solid-state drives (SSDs) and hard disk drives (HDDs), as well as global leaders in the AI memory and storage markets.
The ETF also invests in controller and IP companies, storage platform companies, and data-storage server manufacturers that benefit from structural growth in data storage.
Interest in data memory is rising as the era of AI agents arrives. Most AI data is stored on SSDs made with NAND memory and HDDs made with magnetic disks. SSDs handle data-processing speed, while HDDs provide the capacity needed to store data reliably.
Han Dong-hoon, a manager at Samsung Asset Management, explained, "KODEX U.S. AI Memory TOP 2 Plus is an ETF that focuses on core AI memory and storage companies whose demand is expected to increase cumulatively, while also investing across the value chain."
