Kim Hyun-woo Named Head of Seoul's Economic Affairs Office; Lee Ji-hyun Appointed Chief Adviser for the Nighttime Economy

[Financial News] Seoul Metropolitan Government announced on the 15th that it had appointed Kim Hyun-woo, former CEO of the Seoul Business Agency, as head of its Economic Affairs Office, which oversees Seoul's economic and industrial policies. It also appointed Lee Ji-hyun, former chief planning adviser, as chief adviser for the nighttime economy, supporting policies to promote nighttime economic activity. Kim will oversee efforts to secure Seoul's future growth engines, including the development of high-value-added industries, talent development in response to the era of artificial intelligence (AI) transformation, and the recovery of vitality in the livelihoods economy.
After taking office as CEO of the Seoul Business Agency, Kim reorganized the institution as the Seoul Business Agency and launched the global influencer festival SeoulCon. He also helped strengthen the competitiveness of Seoul's startup and industrial ecosystem by expanding the Youth Employment Academy, supporting the growth of promising companies, developing sales channels, and assisting their overseas expansion.
As the newly appointed chief adviser for the nighttime economy, Lee will report directly to the mayor and oversee Seoul's nighttime economic policies. Her responsibilities include developing a vision and strategy to promote the nighttime economy, fostering four major nighttime landmarks, and establishing a brand for Seoul at night.

Lee previously served as Seoul Metropolitan Government's chief adviser for vision and strategy and chief planning adviser. She led the development of Seoul Metropolitan Government brands and content, including SEOUL, MY SOUL, the Hechi character, and Seoul Ramen. She also participated in major policy initiatives, such as urban-space innovation projects including subway-station runner stations, Seoul Learn, and Wrist Doctor 9988.
Seoul Metropolitan Government plans to link its economic, industrial, and employment policies with efforts to promote the nighttime economy, centered on the head of the Economic Affairs Office and the chief adviser for the nighttime economy.
A Seoul Metropolitan Government official said, "We expect the two-pronged leadership system guiding economic policy and the nighttime economy to enhance Seoul's economic value and vitality."

Seoul Metropolitan Government also appointed Jin Jae-seop, former director of the Urban Railway Bureau at the Urban Infrastructure Headquarters, as president of Seoul Water Recycling Facility Corporation on the same day. His term is three years. Since joining Seoul Metropolitan Government in 1995, Jin has worked for approximately 31 years at the World Cup Main Stadium Construction Group, the Water Recycling Facilities Division, Future Hangang Headquarters, and Urban Infrastructure Headquarters. On the 8th, he underwent a review of his management philosophy, plans for operating the corporation, and ability to perform his duties following a personnel hearing at the Seoul Metropolitan Council.
Jin said, "Drawing on the administrative experience and expertise I have built over the years, I will do my utmost to bring the organization's capabilities together, provide safe and clean water recycling services, and build a corporation trusted by citizens."
