[Financial News] A Japanese tourist’s story of being touched by the kindness of a “Korean man” sitting beside her on the subway has gone viral online.
Yonhap News TV and other outlets reported on the 14th that a post by Japanese tourist A, who wanted to find the Korean man who had sat beside her on the Airport Railroad from Seoul to Incheon International Airport, was uploaded to social media on the 11th.
A began her post by saying, "I don't speak Korean, but I am writing this in the hope that it reaches him."
According to A, the man sitting beside her said, "I was touched by the hospitality I received from locals when I traveled in Japan. This time, I wanted to welcome you as you visit Korea." He then gave her 50,000 won in cash, Red Ginseng Jelly, and a dog-shaped key ring.
A said, "He gave me the cash so I could have a cup of coffee while waiting at the airport, and I think he gave me the Red Ginseng Jelly because he thought I had a cold after seeing me wearing a mask." She added, "I regret getting off the train without even asking the man his name." She continued, "Through this post, I want to express my gratitude to him once again."

Meanwhile, it was found that more than one in four Japanese people who traveled abroad this year visited Korea.
According to the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism (MCST) and the Korea Tourism Organization (KTO), 2.28 million of the 8.136 million Japanese people who traveled abroad from January through July visited Korea, accounting for 28.0%—the highest figure on record. This was 3.5 percentage points higher than the 24.6% recorded during the same period last year.
