[Financial News] The Korea Housing & Urban Guarantee Corporation (HUG) received a government award in recognition of its financial support for revitalizing aging industrial complexes.
HUG said on the 15th that it had won the Minister of Industry Award in the Private Investment Promotion category at the 2026 2nd Industrial Complex Structural Advancement Awards held the previous day.
The Industrial Complex Structural Advancement Awards are hosted by the Ministry of Trade, Industry and Energy (MOTIE) and organized by the Korea Industrial Complex Corporation. The awards were established to identify and promote outstanding examples of structural advancement projects that transform aging industrial complexes into future-oriented innovation spaces based on the so-called “4X” framework: AX (AI transformation), GX (green), YX (youth), and NX (new business).
HUG has provided fund loans and guarantees for private loans for industrial-complex regeneration projects that combine industrial, office, and distribution facilities in industrial-complex regeneration districts. Its support helped project developers secure funding and reduced their financial costs, strengthening their ability to carry out the projects. The industrial-complex regeneration projects supported by HUG comprise seven fund projects, with loans totaling 347.9 billion won and guarantees totaling 318.2 billion won.
President Choi In-ho said, "This award reflects our efforts to improve aging industrial complexes and fulfill our responsibility to promote balanced regional development." He added, "We will continue providing tailored financial support to create a sustainable industrial-complex ecosystem."
