[Financial News] Hanwha Group stocks were broadly weaker early in trading on the 15th. Major affiliates, including Hanwha Systems, which had gained the previous day, were all declining.
As of 9:24 a.m. on the 15th, Hanwha Systems was trading at 70,300 won, down 4,700 won (6.27%) from the previous trading day. Hanwha Systems had closed at 75,000 won the previous day, rising 5.78% in a single session. It fell as low as 69,800 won during the session.
As of 9:22 a.m., Hanwha Group was trading at 139,000 won, down 4,700 won (3.27%) from the previous trading day. Its previous close was 143,700 won. The stock opened at 139,700 won and fell as low as 138,600 won during the session.
Hanwha Ocean was also weaker. As of 9:24 a.m., it was trading at 83,500 won, down 2,400 won (2.79%) from the previous trading day. This was below its previous close of 85,900 won, while its intraday low was 82,900 won.
No clear new negative catalyst affecting Hanwha Group stocks as a whole has been identified. The weakness is being interpreted as profit-taking selling, particularly in stocks that had posted large gains the previous day. Hanwha Systems, in particular, had jumped 5.78% the previous day and showed relatively strong performance among Hanwha Group stocks, making its decline more pronounced today.
Defense stocks have recently become more volatile as momentum from large-scale orders has slowed and uncertainty surrounding business in the Middle East has intensified. Market analysts say that a prolonged conflict in the Middle East could put pressure on the timing of local contracts.
