Massage Chairs Overtake Robot Vacuum Cleaners as the Most Desired Home Appliance Gift for Chuseok

[Financial News] Ahead of Chuseok, home appliances that support health management are drawing attention. Healthcare robots and massage chairs were found to be the appliances consumers most wanted to receive as gifts.
According to BODYFRIEND on the 15th, OPENSURVEY INCORPORATED surveyed 500 adults aged 20 and older nationwide about the gift they most wanted to receive from family during the holidays. Healthcare robots and massage chairs ranked first, with 44% of respondents choosing them.
Robot vacuum cleaners ranked second at 30%, followed by food waste disposers at 22%; air purifiers and humidifiers at 13%; dryers at 12.4%; and clothing care appliances at 12%.
Healthcare robots and massage chairs were particularly popular among respondents in their 40s and 50s. Some 50.5% and 49.6%, respectively, said they wanted to receive those products as gifts. The preference rate was also 44.0% among respondents aged 60 and older.
The main reason respondents chose healthcare robots and massage chairs as holiday gifts was “health.” Among those who selected the products, 77.1% said, “Because they seem likely to help with my health.” This was followed by “Because I think I would use them often” at 33.1% and “Because they are products a family member wanted” at 21.0%.
BODYFRIEND had the highest brand preference at 52.7%. More than half of the respondents who said they wanted to receive healthcare robots or massage chairs named BODYFRIEND as their preferred brand.
A BODYFRIEND representative said, “This survey confirmed that ‘health’ is the core value of the gifts people want to receive during the holidays.” The representative added, “We will continue creating a holiday gift culture in which the whole family can manage their health in everyday life through AI healthcare robots.”
