"Automating Work with AI": SK Rent-a-Car Introduces Google Workspace

[Financial News] SK Rent-a-Car has introduced Google Workspace company-wide, establishing a cloud-based work environment powered by generative artificial intelligence (AI). The move is seen as more than a simple modernization of its work systems; it has created an environment that enables SK Rent-a-Car to make effective use of the experience and data it has accumulated over the years.
According to industry sources on the 15th, SK Rent-a-Car had operated a closed virtual desktop infrastructure (VDI)-based work environment for security reasons. However, the VDI environment caused significant inconvenience for employees because of access delays and declining system performance. It also limited the company’s ability to introduce the latest AI solutions and cloud-based collaboration tools.
SK Rent-a-Car therefore introduced Google Workspace company-wide and shifted from its VDI-centered work environment to a cloud-based environment using local PCs.
SK Rent-a-Car employees can now use Google Workspace’s various collaboration and productivity tools to handle everyday tasks—including email, document creation, data analysis, video conferencing, and schedule management—from a range of office spaces beyond the headquarters. The company has also established a foundation for improving work speed and communication efficiency through real-time collaboration in a cloud-based shared work environment.
Employees can now use the Gemini model integrated into Google Workspace throughout their work to automate tasks such as drafting reports, summarizing meeting minutes, and analyzing data.
SK Rent-a-Car has integrated its internal data systems and customer relationship management (CRM) solution with Google Workspace in real time, simplifying the process of accessing and collecting sales data. This has improved employees’ access to data and established a system for making rapid, data-driven decisions.
Senior executives from Google Cloud and SK Rent-a-Car held an event on the 14th to mark the introduction of Google Workspace. They discussed ways to cooperate on the successful adoption of an AI-based work environment and on expanding the use of AI in the future. SK Rent-a-Car plans to strengthen its company-wide AI capabilities and continue innovating its work processes by expanding AI use beyond research and analysis to creative areas such as content and video production.
Ruth Sun, president of Google Cloud Korea, said, "To achieve genuine AI innovation, it is essential above all to create an environment where employees can use AI naturally in their actual work." She added, "We will actively support SK Rent-a-Car so that it can strengthen collaboration among employees and create business value in a more flexible and agile manner through AI."
