The Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism (MCST) and the Korea Tourism Organization (KTO) will jointly run the “2026 Travel in Autumn” campaign in October and November, the two agencies said on the 15th. A launch ceremony will be held at 3 p.m. that day at KT&G Sangsang Planet in Seongdong-gu, Seoul.■ 80,000 accommodation vouchers... Discounts on rail, air travel, and campingAbout 80,000 accommodation discount vouchers will be distributed on a first-come, first-served basis to Korean nationals through participating online travel agencies from 10 a.m. on the 22nd. They can be used for accommodation products outside the capital region, excluding Sejong and North Chungcheong Province, and are valid through November 8.
For one-night products, travelers will receive a 30,000-won discount for purchases of 70,000 won or more, and a 20,000-won discount for purchases of at least 20,000 won but less than 70,000 won. For products covering two or more consecutive nights, 70,000 won will be deducted when the total price is at least 140,000 won.
The newly introduced island-area vouchers provide 50,000 won for products priced at 70,000 won or more and 30,000 won for products priced at least 30,000 won but less than 70,000 won.
If the vouchers are applied to the same 70,000-won one-night product, the traveler pays 40,000 won for general accommodation and 20,000 won for island accommodation. The program offers larger discounts for island stays and consecutive-night stays than for a standard one-night stay, aiming to spread travel demand and encourage longer visits.
Purchasers of KORAIL’s “Independent Travel Products to Areas with Declining Populations” will receive a discount voucher equivalent to 100% of the train fare if they visit and verify their visits to designated tourist attractions in 41 participating areas. Five themed train routes will receive a 50% discount, while the Rail-ro Pass will receive a 20,000-won discount.
After pledging to travel in an eco-friendly and safe manner on TMAP, travelers who drive at least 30 kilometers from their departure point to one of 89 areas with declining populations will receive up to 30,000 accumulated points per account, depending on the number of areas visited.
Those who purchase and use certain domestic round-trip flights through NAVER Flights will receive 10,000 points per person for inland routes and 5,000 points for Jeju Province routes through Naver Pay. The Gimpo–Jeju route is excluded. The benefit period for rail, air, and private-vehicle travel is from October 1 to November 30.
Registered campground products used during the same period will be eligible for a 10,000-won discount on CampingTalk and Camfit.■ Travel-expense reimbursements... Preference-based trips in 25 regionsThe “Local Love Vacation Support” program reimburses part of travelers’ expenses with mobile local gift certificates after they apply and receive approval in advance, travel to an eligible area, and submit proof of spending. The standard reimbursement rate is 50%, with an individual limit of 100,000 won. Young people can receive up to 140,000 won.
In Geoje and Tongyeong, South Gyeongsang Province, which were affected by torrential rains, the KTO will provide 20,000 won per person to 360 users of marine tourism products developed by the organization.
Starting on the 21st, Gmarket will offer discounts of up to 50%, capped at 50,000 won, on domestic travel products. Participants in the “Workers’ Vacation Support” program will receive the same discount rate and cap at the online mall Vacation Shop.
“Five People, Five Styles: Preference Travel” will operate in 25 regions under the themes of food, hiking, experiences, family, and eco-friendly travel. A total of 700 participants will be recruited, with applications accepted from that day through the 30th. Detailed benefits are available on the official “Travel Month” website.
Minister of Culture, Sports and Tourism Choi Hwi-young said, “We will provide strong support for people’s autumn travel,” adding, “I hope this campaign leaves families with wonderful memories and brings new vitality to local communities.”
