Daewoong Pharmaceutical Co., Ltd. Shares the Latest CGM Clinical Trends with Korean and Japanese Experts

Daewoong Pharmaceutical Co., Ltd. announced on the 15th that it will hold a web symposium on the 16th under the theme of "Shift in Blood Sugar Management Paradigm" through its medical information platform for medical professionals, "Dr.Ville."
This symposium was organized to share the latest clinical trends and research findings utilizing CGM with domestic medical professionals.
Professor Choi Seong-hee of the Department of Endocrinology and Metabolism at Seoul National University Bundang Hospital will serve as the chairperson, and Professor Min Se-hee of the Department of Endocrinology at Asan Medical Center and Professor Mototsugu Nagao of the Department of Endocrinology and Metabolism at Tokyo Women's Medical University in Japan will participate as presenters.
The main theme is 'Behavior Change' utilizing CGM. While diabetes was previously managed primarily based on blood glucose control indicators such as HbA1c or Time in Range (TIR), the focus has recently shifted to helping patients understand continuously accumulating blood glucose data and translate this into actual lifestyle changes, including diet, exercise, and medication.
Professor Nagao will present on the topic of "From Monitoring to Management: A New Diabetes Management Model Using CGM," introducing case studies of CGM utilization in Japan and the latest research findings. He plans to discuss the clinical value provided by CGM in various clinical settings, along with methods to utilize CGM data for patient self-management.
In Japan, as insurance coverage for CGM has expanded, the use of CGM is increasing not only among patients with Type 1 diabetes but also among Type 2 diabetes patients receiving insulin treatment. Daewoong Pharmaceutical Co., Ltd. invited Professor Nagao to share these clinical experiences from Japan with domestic medical professionals.
Professor Min will introduce the guidelines for integrated continuous glucose monitors (iCGMs) recommended by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA). He plans to explain the significance of the accuracy and reliability of CGM data in actual clinical practice, as well as how to utilize the devices, including indications and measurement accuracy across blood glucose ranges.
Based on the two presentations, Professor Choi discusses the latest clinical evidence related to CGM and strategies for utilizing data. In particular, he shares the clinical experiences of medical professionals from Korea and Japan regarding methods to link CGM data to patients' lifestyles and self-care behaviors.
