Up to 30% Cheaper: Daegu Metropolitan City Opens Chuseok Agricultural and Specialty Products Direct-Sales Market

Daegu Metropolitan City will hold a “Chuseok Excellent Agricultural and Specialty Products Direct-Sales Market” for two days, from Sept. 18 to 19, in the parking lot of the Daegu Local Food Direct Sales Store next to the Dong-gu Public Health Center. Excellent agricultural and specialty products from the Daegu–Gyeongbuk region will be sold at up to 30% below regular market prices.
Farms from the Daegu–Gyeongbuk region will participate in the market, selling about 50 items at prices below regular market rates. The products include ceremonial foods such as apples, pears and pollock fillets, as well as gift sets featuring yugwa and pine mushrooms.
In particular, apples, pears, Shine Muscat grapes and eggs will be offered at special discounts of up to 20% to 30% to ease citizens’ holiday-related financial burden.
The city will also give away green onions, sweet potatoes and other agricultural products to customers who spend 20,000 won or more.
Park Gi-hwan, director of the Economic Affairs Bureau, emphasized, “I hope this direct-sales market will ease the burden on citizens’ Chuseok shopping baskets and become a venue for mutual benefit, expanding sales channels and increasing farmers’ incomes.”
Meanwhile, Daegu Metropolitan City is organizing the direct-sales market by bringing together excellent agricultural and specialty products from the Daegu–Gyeongbuk region. The initiative aims to promote consumption of local agricultural products and provide citizens with safe, fresh produce at affordable prices ahead of Chuseok, Korea’s biggest traditional holiday.
