LS Eco Energy, Gaon Cable Join Forces to Target U.S. Distribution Market

[Financial News] LS Eco Energy is expanding its push into the North American power-distribution market by joining forces with Gaon Cable’s U.S. subsidiary. The company aims to meet rapidly growing demand for power infrastructure by linking Gaon Cable’s local sales network with LS Eco Energy’s production base in Vietnam to supply medium-voltage (MV) underground cables to solar farms in the United States.
LS Eco Energy announced on the 15th that it recently supplied MV underground cables to a solar farm in the United States.
The supply was arranged through LSCUS, Gaon Cable’s U.S. subsidiary, which signed a contract with a local customer, while LS Eco Energy’s Vietnam production entity, LS VINA Cable & System, manufactured the products.
The cables are used to collect electricity generated within solar farms and transmit it to substation equipment. In the United States, investment in AI data centers and renewable energy is expanding, driving rapid growth in demand not only for generation facilities but also for the distribution infrastructure that connects them.
The company explained, "As demand for MV cables in the United States surges, LSCUS is expanding its local production capacity by more than twofold," adding, "We are also utilizing LS VINA Cable & System’s production capacity to meet rapidly rising demand."
LS Eco Energy plans to continue increasing its supply of distribution cables in new U.S. power-infrastructure markets, including solar farms, through cooperation with Gaon Cable. Sangho Rhee, CEO of LS Eco Energy, said, "Gaon Cable is strengthening its ability to respond to orders by linking its local U.S. production with the production bases of its affiliates, while LS Eco Energy is expanding exports to North America." He added, "We will strengthen our push into the North American market by leveraging synergies among our affiliates."
Meanwhile, LS VINA Cable & System’s exports of MV cables to the United States are expected to increase by more than 20% from last year. In addition, based on its track record of supplying extra-high-voltage cables in Europe and Singapore, the company recently secured certification for 230-kV-class cables in the United States and is pursuing entry into the local extra-high-voltage market.
