Samsung Electronics Service Becomes First in the Electronics Service Industry to Obtain ISMS-P Certification

[Financial News] Samsung Electronics announced on the 15th that Samsung Electronics Service had become the first company in the electronics service industry to obtain Information Security and Personal Information Protection Management System (ISMS-P) certification.
ISMS-P is an integrated information security and personal information protection certification system overseen by the Ministry of Science and ICT and the Personal Information Protection Commission (PIPC). Accredited institutions assess companies’ security management systems and information systems overall, while the Korea Internet & Security Agency (KISA) and the Financial Security Institute conduct the final review and grant certification.
To obtain certification, companies must pass a suitability assessment covering 101 items, including the establishment and operation of an information security management system, system security management, and protective measures at each stage of personal information processing. The certification officially recognizes the reliability of Samsung Electronics Service’s information security system at service sites that handle customers’ personal information extensively.
Samsung Electronics Service obtained Information Security Management System (ISMS) certification in 2021 for six systems, including its website and chatbot. After expanding the certification’s scope to include sign-language consultations and its recruitment website in 2024, the company obtained ISMS-P certification this year, strengthening its coverage of personal information protection.
The company also provides information security training for all employees and regularly conducts simulated malicious-email exercises and security inspections at service centers.
A Samsung Electronics Service representative said, "The significance of obtaining ISMS-P certification lies in expanding the certification’s scope to include personal information protection. We will continue working to ensure that customers can use Samsung Electronics products with confidence."
