Korea Expressway Corporation to Infuse Expressways with Power and Data... Presents 'Vision 2035'

[Financial News] The Korea Expressway Corporation is expanding its existing expressway network into infrastructure that connects electricity, data, and advanced mobility. The plan is to construct an "Energy Expressway" utilizing the roads and transform interchanges (ICs) and rest areas into transfer hubs connecting regional modes of transportation.
Korea Expressway Corporation announced on the 15th that it held a 'Vision 2035 and Safety Management Practice Proclamation Ceremony' at its headquarters in Gimcheon, North Gyeongsang Province, on the 14th, attended by employees, officials from partner companies, and others.
The new vision is 'Global No. 1 Mobility Platform Realizing the Value of Mobility for Everyone.' The existing vision, 'A Safe and Convenient Future Transportation Platform Company,' established in 2021, has been revamped to align with government policies and changes in the mobility environment.
The Korea Expressway Corporation plans to create an environment where all citizens, including transportation-vulnerable people, can move safely and conveniently, and to create new mobility value by connecting data, energy, and mobility. To support this, it presented four core values: safety for all, public responsibility, mutual growth, and innovation for the future.
To realize the vision, the existing expressway network will be utilized as a foundation for future mobility. The plan is to create an Energy Expressway that supplies electricity to roads, thereby supporting the expansion of the national power grid and the energy transition.
The functions of interchanges (ICs) and rest areas will also be expanded. Moving beyond simple expressway facilities, the plan is to develop them into transfer hubs connected to local transportation, thereby increasing the utilization of expressway space.
The goal is to establish an expressway system through which not only people and logistics but also electricity and data can move, while connecting advanced industries with mobility.
The safety management policy includes five major tasks: protecting the lives of the public and employees, creating a safe and pleasant working environment, establishing an autonomous and mature safety culture, complying with safety and health regulations, and building a smart safety system.
A total of 20 companies, including the Korea Expressway Corporation, its subsidiaries, and partner companies, also participated in the 'Joint Declaration on Safety Management Practice.' They agreed to identify and improve hazardous and dangerous factors at worksites in advance, guarantee workers' right to self-protection, and comply with basic safety rules and work procedures.
Yoo Jeong-hoon, President of the Korea Expressway Corporation, stated, "The Korea Expressway Corporation and its partner companies will make continuous efforts together to ensure that the vision and safety management policy announced today do not remain a one-time declaration but lead to practical implementation at all worksites."
