'Nongshim Third-Generation Heir' Sang-Yol Shin Marries 'SKT Rank-and-File Employee'—She Is the Daughter of Former Judge and Author Moon Yoo-seok

[Financial News] Sang-Yol Shin, the third-generation heir of Nongshim's owner family, has drawn attention after marrying a rank-and-file employee of SK Telecom. Her father-in-law is reportedly Moon Yoo-seok, a former judge and bestselling author.
According to Korea Economic Daily and other outlets on the 14th, Shin married Moon, who works at SK Telecom, at The Shilla Seoul in Jangchung-dong, Seoul, on the 13th.
Born in 1993, Shin is the grandson of the late Shin Choon-ho, Nongshim's founder, and the eldest son of Nongshim Chairman Shin Dong-won.
The news initially attracted attention simply because Shin, a third-generation member of the Nongshim owner family, was marrying a rank-and-file employee of a major corporation. Interest has surged again after the bride's father was identified as Moon Yoo-seok.
Born in Seoul in 1969, Moon is known as a former judge who became an author. After completing the 26th class at the Judicial Research and Training Institute in 1997, he was appointed a judge at the Seoul Central District Court. He later served as a judge at the Seoul High Court and as a presiding judge at the Gwangju District Court, Incheon District Court, and Seoul Eastern District Court.
Moon rose to prominence as a bestselling author after publishing essay collections based on his legal experience, including 'A Judge's Regrets' (2014) and 'The Declaration of an Individualist' (2015). His 2016 courtroom novel 'Ms. Hammurabi' was adapted into a Monday-Tuesday drama on JTBC, bringing him wider public recognition. He later wrote the screenplay for 'The Devil Judge' and participated as the creator of Disney+'s original series 'Vigilante' (2023). In December last year, he returned to television after four years with the tvN drama 'Pro Bono.'
Shin, meanwhile, worked as an intern at Nongshim for two years starting in 2015. After graduating from Columbia University with a degree in industrial engineering in 2019, he joined Nongshim's management planning office that same year. In 2021, he was promoted to executive managing director in charge of procurement, becoming the first Nongshim executive in his 20s. After serving as managing director of the Future Business Division, he was promoted to senior managing director in November 2024 and became executive vice president in January this year.
