Ruling Party Mainstream Targets Choo Mi-ae... "Pours Extreme Remarks Worthy of Yoon at President Lee"

Governor Choo criticized on the 12th, saying, "We have reclaimed the constitutional order that the forces of insurrection almost stole," and asked, "If that is the case, the President should punish these forces, so why is he trembling with anxiety while riding on their coattails?"
In response, Representative Kim Min-seok appeared on the Democratic Party’s official YouTube channel, ‘Democratic Party TV,’ on the same day and pointed out, “It is highly likely that people will not perceive this as a remark made by a senior member of the Democratic Party.” Representative Kim stated, “If it is said to be the remark of a responsible politician of the Democratic Party, a provincial governor, people would likely find it puzzling,” adding, “Governor Choo himself needs to explain why he said that.”
Representative Kim also said, "This is a time when we need to unite our strength, but isn't this heading toward a situation similar to when forces inside and outside joined forces to impeach President Roh Moo-hyun just as he was settling in?"
It is interpreted that this was a direct attack on Governor Choo, likening it to the impeachment crisis led by the Millennium Democratic Party (MDP), the predecessor of the Democratic Party of Korea (DPK), during the early days of the Roh Moo-hyun administration.
Representative Hwang Myung-sun, classified as a hardline pro-Myung faction member, showed the most agitated reaction.
In a post on Facebook, Rep. Hwang claimed, "Governor Choo's remarks went far beyond the line of sincere criticism that a Democratic Party-affiliated head of a metropolitan government can make," adding, "He hurled extreme remarks at our President that would have been directed at Yoon Suk-yeol."
There is also a view that behind the clash between the pro-Myung mainstream and Rep. Choo lies a struggle over direction between Chairman Kim, who advocated for expanding the party's base as a policy, and hardliners who prioritize consolidating traditional supporters.
Supreme Council member Han Min-soo, a non-mainstream member of the pro-Cheong faction, voiced a view different from the mainstream at an on-site Supreme Council meeting held at the Democratic Party's Gangwon Provincial Chapter in Chuncheon on this day. Han stated, "It is time to examine whether Prosecution Reform has been progressing properly and is on the right track, and whether judicial, media, and livelihood reforms are moving in the direction and at the speed we desire."
Some within the party interpret these remarks as an endorsement of Governor Choo's argument emphasizing strong Prosecution Reform.
Representative Kim Yong-min, a prominent hardliner of the Democratic Party of Korea (DPK), appeared on the YouTube channel 'Kim Eo-jun's News Factory' and, while discussing the nomination of a candidate for the head of the Serious Crime Investigation Agency, pointed out, "To succeed in reform, the Civil Affairs line must be held by people with the will to reform the prosecution, but those of us with a very strong will for reform do not have the authority."
Meanwhile, Cho Kuk, head of the Innovation Research Institute of the Rebuilding Korea Party (RKP), who is at odds with Representative Kim over solidarity and political direction, criticized Representative Kim's remarks regarding "precursors to impeachment."
Director Cho stated, "Representative Kim brought up the 'impeachment of Roh Moo-hyun' to criticize Governor Choo," adding, "This spreads the notion of impeaching Lee Jae Myung. It is a remark that does not help President Lee at all, and impeachment is out of the question. There is absolutely no unconstitutionality or illegality."
