[Financial News] Kakao Pay announced on the 14th that it has started supporting payments for 'Seoul Pay Plus.' This is the first among domestic simple payment and app card services.
With this, Seoul Pay Plus can now be used for payments via Kakao Pay, following Samsung Pay and Zero Pay. This effectively enhances versatility by securing the widest network of offline merchants among domestic simple payment platforms. This move is seen as aligning with Kakao Pay's business strategy of lowering the physical barrier to offline payments.
Even if a store is not a Kakao Pay merchant, simply opening Kakao Pay allows users to select their preferred payment method—including Seoul Pay Plus, Zero Pay, and Samsung Pay (Android only)—on a single payment screen. This can be done by using the 'QR Scan' menu located in the upper right corner of the payment tab within the Kakao Pay application or the payment menu in the 'More' tab of ChatGPT for Kakao.
There are also benefits. If you use Seoul Pay Plus with Kakao Pay, you can earn Kakao Pay points up to four times per payment. In addition to the basic benefits for each payment method, such as credit cards and local gift certificates, Kakao Pay allows you to accumulate up to 30,000 points per month.
A Kakao Pay official said, "It is now possible to make payments more easily and quickly with Kakao Pay at 270,000 Seoul Pay merchants in Seoul," adding, "We will break down the boundaries of the offline payment market and enable convenient and beneficial payment experiences with Kakao Pay anywhere."
