[Financial News] The Uzbekistan flag appeared alongside the Taegeukgi on the exterior of Seoul’s Lotte World Tower to mark Uzbekistan President Shavkat Mirziyoyev’s state visit to South Korea. Cheong Wa Dae said it had prepared special honors reflecting Uzbekistan’s culture and President Mirziyoyev’s preferences, from central Seoul to the official welcoming ceremony and state banquet.
According to Cheong Wa Dae on the 14th, the Taegeukgi and the Uzbekistan flag were displayed on the media facade of Lotte World Tower. Welcome messages in Korean and Uzbek were also shown on an outdoor electronic billboard at Government Complex Seoul to mark the state visit by President Mirziyoyev and his wife.
Just as the United Arab Emirates (UAE) welcomed President Lee during his state visit by displaying the Taegeukgi at major landmarks such as Burj Khalifa, Seoul’s city center was decorated with the visiting country’s flag to create a welcoming atmosphere this time.
A large-scale ceremonial reception was also held at Cheong Wa Dae. From the moment President Mirziyoyev and his wife entered the grounds, about 70 members of a military band and traditional honor guard escorted their vehicle. Around 280 personnel, including honor guards from all three branches of the military, stood in formation in the main courtyard. A children’s welcome delegation of about 30 children, including 10 from Uzbekistan, also greeted the presidential couple while waving the flags of both countries.
The state banquet will feature the culinary traditions of both countries. The menu will include halal-certified Hoengseong Hanu striploin neobiani, French-cut lamb racks, Icheon rice nutritious rice, and halal dakgomtang, or chicken soup. Alongside kimchi, the basic side dishes will include “markovcha,” an Uzbek-style carrot kimchi.
Gifts were also prepared in consideration of President Mirziyoyev’s interest in health. Cheong Wa Dae presented him with a health food product made with red ginseng and other ingredients as a gesture wishing him health and well-being. To Ziroat Mirziyoyeva, it will present a white porcelain and silver tea set called the “silver-inlaid gakdawan set and flower tea tray,” reflecting her interest in antique ceramics.
About 50 figures from the governments, political circles, and business communities of both countries will attend the state banquet. The South Korean delegation will include Chief of Staff to the President Kang Hoon-sik, National Security Adviser Wi Sung-lac, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Finance and Economy Koo Yun-cheol, and Foreign Minister Cho Hyun, as well as business representatives from Hyundai Rotem, ROBOTIS, Daewoo Engineering & Construction, and Korea Aerospace Industries (KAI).
