FKI Chairman Ryu Jin Serves a 'Warm Meal' to Residents of a Single-Room Neighborhood Ahead of Chuseok

[Financial News] Ryu Jin, chairman of the Federation of Korean Industries (FKI), joined more than 20 employees on the 15th for a meal-serving volunteer activity at the House of Thomas, a free meal center in Yeongdeungpo District, Seoul, ahead of the Chuseok holiday.
House of Thomas, which opened in 1993, provides lunch every day to about 350 people, including elderly residents living alone and homeless people from Yeongdeungpo's neighborhood of tiny single-room dwellings. FKI has continued its volunteer work there during the holidays for the third consecutive year since 2024.
Ryu Jin and the employees served warm meals directly to visitors at the center. They also visited nearby households whose residents had difficulty getting to the center because of limited mobility and delivered lunch boxes. Sangmidang Holdings joined the charitable effort by donating 1,000 loaves of bread, as it did last year.
In addition, FKI purchased food ingredients from Woori Market in Yeongdeungpo to support local small businesses. The ingredients will be delivered to free meal facilities for homeless people in Seoul, including the House of Thomas, the Seoul Dasi Seogi Comprehensive Support Center, and the Gwangya Homeless Center.
An FKI official said, "It is meaningful to be able to offer even a small measure of warmth to people in need around us ahead of the holiday. We will continue to support the community and organize volunteer activities in which our employees take part directly."
