[Financial News] Hope Friend Hunger Countermeasures and Lotte Mart and Lotte Super will hold a charity event in which all running participation fees will be donated.
According to the international relief and development NGO Hope Friend Hunger Countermeasures on the 14th, the charity running festival 'Tongkeun Run' will be held on Nov. 14 at Peace Plaza in Seoul's World Cup Park. The event is jointly hosted by the two organizations and sponsored by the Seoul Metropolitan Government.
A total of 3,000 people are expected to participate, including 1,000 employees of the organizers and their family members and acquaintances, as well as 2,000 members of the general public. Approximately 60 million won raised by charging general participants 30,000 won each will be donated in full to Hope Friend Hunger Countermeasures and Bobath Children's Rehabilitation Center.
Members of the general public account for two-thirds of the expected participants. The event is designed to channel citizens' participation in the run into donations, providing additional funding for corporate and relief organizations' social contribution activities.
Hope Friend Hunger Countermeasures will use the donations for its winter-support campaign, 'Huimang On.' The campaign provides heating costs to vulnerable households and welfare facilities in blind spots of welfare services during the winter, along with winter clothing and heating supplies.
There are three courses: a 3-kilometer family run, a 5-kilometer course, and a 10-kilometer course. Children under 14 may participate in the 3-kilometer family run with an adult guardian.
The organizers began accepting applications from general participants on a first-come, first-served basis at 1 p.m. that day through the official Tongkeun Run website. Every applicant will receive a running T-shirt, sports socks, and a race bib.
The event venue will also feature hands-on booths introducing Hope Friend Hunger Countermeasures' and Lotte Mart's support programs for vulnerable groups in Korea, along with charity programs.
Choi Chang-nam, chairman of Hope Friend Hunger Countermeasures, said, "We will provide responsible support to ensure that the precious goodwill gathered through this Tongkeun Run reaches people vulnerable to energy poverty."
