Korea Expressway Corporation Holds Garden Expo, Showcasing Award-Winning Designs

[Financial News] Korea Expressway Corporation is holding a garden expo at the Korea Expressway Corporation Arboretum in Jeonju. The event showcases award-winning entries from a garden design competition alongside gardens created and tended by local residents.
Korea Expressway Corporation announced that it will hold a garden expo at the Korea Expressway Corporation Arboretum in Deokjin-gu, Jeonju-si, from the 14th through the 20th under the theme "Sustainable Roads: Meeting Gardens to Open the Future."
The expo will feature six finalists from the "2026 Korea Expressway Corporation Garden Design Competition" and two gardens created jointly with citizen gardeners from Jeonju-si. Citizen gardeners are local garden experts who have completed Jeonju-si's gardener training program.
The winning entries were selected through judging from 83 submissions received between the 4th and 13th of last month. The grand prize went to "-4°C: A Cool Difference Made on the Road." The six works also include the top excellence award winners "A Garden Blooming Between the Gradations" and "JIRISAN DULLE-GIL," as well as the excellence award winners "A Road Beside, a Road Above, a Road" and "Connected," and "A Garden Where Life Sprouts." They will remain on display for one year through September next year, even after the expo ends.
During the expo, visitors can take part in various programs, including arboretum docent tours, a counseling center for companion plants, and an exhibition of entries from a road photography contest. A direct-to-consumer garden-supplies market called "Farmers Garden" and a traffic safety campaign for the public will also be held to make it easier for visitors to engage in creating gardens and to promote public safety.
Kim Yun-duk, Minister of Land, Infrastructure and Transport of South Korea, who attended the event, encouraged officials at the site and congratulated the winners. He said, "I hope the Korea Expressway Corporation Arboretum will be loved even more as an open space that provides nature and relaxation to the public."
Yoo Jung-hoon, president of Korea Expressway Corporation, said, "This expo demonstrates that the Korea Expressway Corporation Arboretum is becoming more than just a place for rest—it is evolving into a space cultivated together with the public." He added, "We will continue to enhance the arboretum's green value and build expressways that coexist with nature."
