[Financial News] Korea Investment Corporation (KIC) said on the 14th that it had conducted investment-attraction activities targeting local U.S. venture capital firms (VCs).
On the 11th (local time), KIC jointly hosted the 'K-Global Deep Konnect IR' event in San Francisco with Korea Venture Investment, an agency under the Ministry of SMEs and Startups, and the Korea Innovation Center, an agency under the Ministry of Science and ICT.
KIC and Korea Venture Investment recruited local VCs, while KIC Silicon Valley recruited Korean-founded startups. About 100 people attended the event, including representatives from 30 Korean-founded startups in fields such as physical artificial intelligence and autonomous driving, as well as major Silicon Valley VCs and asset managers, including Notable Capital and New Enterprise Associates (NEA). A representative of VC firm Notable Capital said, "Korea has outstanding capabilities in robotics, defense and semiconductors, and is expected to play an important role in the physical artificial intelligence (AI) sector in the future."
In June, KIC signed a memorandum of understanding with Korea Venture Investment to support promising domestic venture companies in expanding overseas, and organized this event as a follow-up collaboration. Meanwhile, KIC operates overseas branches and offices in New York and San Francisco in the United States, London in the United Kingdom, Singapore, Mumbai in India, and Tokyo in Japan.
