Ido Estate, a comprehensive real estate operations company, announced on the 14th that it held an MOU signing ceremony with Lightroom’s operator in London on the 12th and agreed to cooperate on creating immersive exhibition and cultural spaces.
Under the agreement, Ido Estate is pursuing plans to introduce Lightroom to the office properties it operates, including ONEX, marking the first such introduction in South Korea. Office tenants will be able to enjoy high-quality cultural content near their workplaces, while outside visitors will have a new reason to visit the buildings. In particular, the cultural facilities are expected to significantly enhance ONEX’s ability to attract visitors and its spatial competitiveness by expanding the connection between the building and surrounding commercial areas, helping it become a new landmark in Euljiro.
Located in King’s Cross, London, Lightroom is an exhibition space that combines large LED screens, cutting-edge sound systems and spatial design to create an immersive experience that makes visitors feel as though they have entered the artwork. It has presented innovative content spanning art, space and fashion, including ‘Bigger & Closer,’ featuring the work of David Hockney; ‘The Moonwalkers,’ involving Tom Hanks; and ‘Vogue: Inventing the Runway,’ which explores the history of fashion shows. ‘David Bowie: You’re Not Alone’ is currently showing, while ‘Larger Than Life,’ featuring characters from Aardman Studios, is scheduled to open in October.
ONEX, where Lightroom is expected to be introduced, is a large-scale prime office development being built in the Ipjeong-dong area of Jung-gu, Seoul. The project will comprise seven underground floors and 33 floors above ground, with a total floor area of approximately 172,100 square meters. It has an excellent location with direct access to Euljiro 3-ga Station, recently completed project financing worth 1.64 trillion won, and is progressing toward its target completion date of April 2029.
Kim Ji-young, executive director of Ido Estate, said, "Our cooperation with Lightroom points to a new direction for urban office spaces," adding, "We will transform it into a place people visit not only to work, but also to experience culture and new things." Richard Slaney, CEO of Lightroom, stated, "Seoul is one of the world’s leading centers of creativity," adding, "We are very pleased to work with Ido Estate on this project to create a new Lightroom space in Seoul."
