【Financial News Hoengseong = Reporter Kim Ki-seop】Hoengseong County is launching online and offline consumption-boosting initiatives ahead of Chuseok to revitalize struggling neighborhood businesses and traditional markets.
According to Hoengseong County on the 14th, the county will hold a special promotion at its official online mall, Hoengseong Mall, along with a cashback event for visitors to Hoengseong Traditional Market, busking performances, and prize drawings.
Hoengseong Mall is holding a special Hangawi discount event for five weeks from August 24 to September 30. Every Thursday at 3 p.m., 30% discount coupons valid on all products will be issued on a first-come, first-served basis. The county is also supporting digital marketing for about 50 local companies listed on Hoengseong Mall, including product-page production, open-market integration, and live-commerce broadcasts.
An Onnuri Gift Certificate cashback event will begin at traditional markets on the 16th. The cashback event for domestic agricultural and livestock products, held in cooperation with the Ministry of Agriculture, Food and Rural Affairs (MAFRA), will run for five days from the 16th through the 20th at 23 stores in the market. Customers who spend at least 34,000 won will receive an Onnuri Gift Certificate worth 10,000 won, while those who spend at least 67,000 won will receive one worth 20,000 won. The refunds will be issued on a first-come, first-served basis, with a maximum of 20,000 won per person.
The county’s Chuseok joint-marketing cashback event will also run from the 16th until the budget is exhausted. Customers who bring receipts showing purchases of at least 50,000 won at traditional-market stores to the Hoengseong Market Association office will receive a 10,000-won Onnuri Gift Certificate cashback on a first-come, first-served basis. The event is limited to the first 1,380 people, with a daily limit of 10,000 won per person.
Entertainment and activities have also been arranged. Busking performances will be held twice a day inside the market from the 16th through the 20th. Customers who spend at least 30,000 won at Hoengseong Market by the 28th can enter a prize drawing by submitting their receipts. The drawing will be held at the market on the 28th.
Jang Sin-sang, Hoengseong County Governor, said, "By offering traditional-market cashback and Hoengseong Mall discounts together, we have maximized the shopping benefits available to consumers." He added, "I hope this will ease the burden of holiday preparations for residents struggling with high prices and support traditional-market merchants and small business owners."
