[Financial News] LG AI Research has unveiled "Expert AI," capable of autonomously predicting and solving problems by learning specialized knowledge from industrial fields such as manufacturing, finance, and science. Lim Woo-hyung, Co-Director of LG AI Research, stated, "We are preparing for a stage where AI makes decisions and acts on its own," adding, "We will move beyond the automation of individual robots toward the future of autonomous factories where the entire factory operates as a single intelligence."
He emphasized, "To solve problems in industrial settings, we need AI that can understand and judge numerous variables and even a mere 1% exception."
The expert AIs unveiled on this day are 'ExaOne Tabular' and 'ExaOne Omni-Inspect'. Each understands process conditions and quality information and can perform inspections without retraining even if the process or product appearance changes. This enables rapid prediction with a small amount of data and flexible responses to process conditions, even in manufacturing sites where conditions frequently change.
ExaOne Tabular has been applied at an actual LG Innotek manufacturing site. Yoo Jung-sun, Head of AX at LG Innotek, stated, "ExaOne Tabular does not wait for data to accumulate; it produces predictions with only a small amount of data."

LG AI Research collaborated with LG Household & Health Care to review 420,000 candidate substances and discovered 'Rhamsydil,' a substance effective against hair loss, in just one day. It is also developing a next-generation oral peptide drug with D&D Pharmatech. With GS Caltex, it plans to develop liquid immersion cooling fluid materials for next-generation AI data centers and expand the scope of new-material discovery.
In the financial sector, LG introduced 'ExaOne BI,' in which multiple AI agents collaborate to perform tasks ranging from data analysis to inference, prediction, and explanation. ExaOne BI incorporates 'ExaOne Forecast,' an AI foundation model that understands information changing over time. LG AI Research predicted that reliable predictive AI would expand into various asset classes in financial markets, such as bonds and commodities.
LG AI Research announced that since its establishment in December 2020, it has solved more than 100 industrial challenges, including predicting battery life and capacity, screening defective products, optimizing production and materials management plans, and discovering new drug candidates. During the same period, it published 368 papers at major global AI conferences and filed 1,080 patents domestically and internationally.
Director Lim introduced the development status of a robot foundation model that will serve as the brain of robots capable of performing actions in the real world. He also stated that research and development is underway on proprietary core algorithms to prevent accidents caused by robot operation in advance.
