[Financial News] Rally Chile Biobío, the 12th round of the '2026 World Rally Championship (WRC),' a motorsports competition for which Hankook Tire & Technology Co., Ltd. exclusively supplies racing tires, has concluded. It is evaluated that the all-weather rally tire 'Dynapro R213' demonstrated stable grip and durability in extreme rally conditions, proving its world-class tire technology.
Hankook Tire & Technology Co., Ltd., a subsidiary of Hankook & Company Group, announced on the 14th that the Fédération Internationale de l'Automobile (FIA)-organized WRC Round 12, Rally Chile Biobío, concluded successfully on the 13th (local time) in the Concepcion area of Chile. The event consisted of 16 special stages covering a total distance of 311.18 km, traversing forest roads and unpaved hilly terrain in the Pacific coastal regions of Concepcion and Biobío. It is a grueling driving course where continuous stress is placed on tire treads and sidewalls due to a series of high-speed corners and gravel surfaces compacted with volcanic ash particles and small gravel.
The product that supported the drivers' completion of the race on rough terrain was Dynapro R213, an extreme all-weather rally tire. This tire maintains consistent grip and stability even during high-speed cornering and absorbs repeated road shocks. Available in two compounds, hard and soft, to suit climate and road conditions, it supported strategic tire management for each participating team.
As a result of the race, Oliver Solberg of the Toyota Gazoo Racing World Rally Team (TGR WRT) claimed his second victory of the season, following the Monte Carlo Rally. The Toyota Motor Corporation team secured the 2026 Manufacturers' Championship title early based on this victory, marking the historic milestone of its 10th overall championship win.
The 13th round of the championship, taking place in the Alghero region of Sardinia, Italy, will be held from October 1 to 4. With rough terrain traversing coastal and inland mountainous landscapes, followed by blind crest sections where forward visibility is limited, tire durability is expected to be the key factor in determining the winner. Meanwhile, Hankook Tire & Technology Co., Ltd., which has been the exclusive tire supplier for all WRC classes since the 2025 season, is continuously utilizing driving data accumulated through the competition for the research and development of high-performance tires.
