SH·GH·iH Hold 'Public Housing Community Revitalization' Seminar

[Financial News] The '2026 Metropolitan Area Corporation Research Council Joint Seminar,' hosted by Seoul Housing & Urban Development Corporation (SH), Gyeonggi Housing & Urban Development Corporation (GH), and Incheon Metropolitan City Development Corporation (iH), and organized by the Korea Housing Service Society, will be held on the 18th at 3 p.m. at Ferrum Hall on the third floor of Ferrum Tower in Jung-gu, Seoul.
According to SH on the 14th, anyone can attend this seminar without prior registration. It was organized by the Metropolitan Area Public Housing Research Council to explore the role of community support and housing services in public housing in responding to care gaps and social isolation arising from a super-aged society, low birth rates, and the increase in single-person and elderly households. SH President Hwang Sang-ha, GH President Kim Yong-jin, and iH President Ryu Yun-gi are scheduled to attend and deliver the opening remarks.
The seminar will feature three presentations under the theme "Beyond Public Housing Providers, Toward Community Designers." Kim Young-wook, a professor in the Department of Architecture at Sejong University, will present "Plans for Creating Urban and Residential Complexes Based on Spatial Structure Analysis for Community Revitalization." Kim Young-guk, a senior researcher at the SH Urban Research Institute, will then introduce "Operational Strategies for Public Housing Community Services to Realize Aging in Community," while Park Seok-gyu, head of the iH Urban Research Team, will present "iH Childcare and Senior Community-Friendly Housing Models in Response to Low Birth Rates and Aging."
Following the presentations, Lim Gwang-bin, head of the Urban Housing Research Department at GH, will chair a comprehensive discussion. Ki Yun-hwan, senior research fellow at the Incheon Institute; Nam Won-seok, senior research fellow at the Seoul Institute; Park Ki-deok, research fellow at the Gyeonggi Research Institute; Cho Seung-yeon, principal research fellow at the LH Land and Housing Research Institute; and Kwon Oh-jeong, co-standing representative of the Korea Housing Service Society, will participate as panelists and discuss effective community support measures for public housing in depth.
SH President Hwang Sang-ha stated, "As the population ages, birth rates decline, and the number of single-person households increases, the importance of care and community within multi-unit housing is growing," adding, "Based on the opinions discussed at this seminar, we will continue to review housing services and community support measures for public housing."
