Trilateral Ukraine Peace Talks Involving the United States Could Resume in October

[Financial News] The Russian government, which resumed contact with a United States special envoy this month after an eight-month hiatus, said trilateral talks with the United States and Ukraine to end the war in Ukraine could resume in October.
According to the TASS Russian News Agency, Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov made the remarks while speaking with reporters on the 13th (local time). Asked whether talks could resume in October, he said, "Yes. We have not ruled out that possibility. We are talking about the near future, so there is also a possibility that we could meet in October. We cannot rule out October."
Russia, which has been invading Ukraine for more than four years, held three rounds of trilateral peace negotiations with delegations from the United States and Ukraine between January and February, arranged by U.S. President Donald Trump. The first two rounds were held in Abu Dhabi, the United Arab Emirates, while the final meeting took place in Geneva, Switzerland. U.S. mediation efforts effectively came to a halt after the United States began attacking Iran in late February.
However, the Trump administration turned its attention back to Ukraine after the Iran war entered a lull. On the 5th, Trump’s eldest son-in-law, Jared Kushner, and Steve Witkoff, the U.S. president’s special envoy to the Middle East, met with Russian President Vladimir Putin in Moscow for the first time in eight months. Witkoff and the others traveled to Kyiv the following day, where they met with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy.
In a statement issued on the 7th, Peskov said trilateral peace negotiations with the United States and Ukraine could resume, but added, "It is still too early to discuss a specific location and date for the talks."
In an interview on the 11th, Zelenskyy suggested that he could meet Putin on the sidelines of the Group of Twenty (G20) summit in Miami in December. He said, "If Putin attends the G20 summit, I will go to Miami as well." However, in a statement on the 12th, Peskov made a counterproposal to Zelenskyy, saying, "If you want to meet the Russian president, come to Moscow." On the 13th, Yuri Ushakov, the Kremlin’s foreign policy adviser, said that the crown prince of the United Arab Emirates had offered to host the trilateral talks in the country.
