[Financial News] Ferrari has unveiled the track-only limited edition 296 GT Modificata, designed to deliver extreme performance beyond the limits of motorsport regulations. Combining real-world motorsport experience with the brand's technical expertise, the car produces up to 730 horsepower. Ferrari plans to deploy it in a non-competitive track program for customers, offering an unparalleled high-performance driving experience.
Ferrari said on the 14th that it had unveiled the 296 GT Modificata for the first time at Ferrari Racing Days in Budapest, Hungary. The new car is a two-seat model developed from the 296 GT3 Evo race car, which debuted in the 2026 season. It follows the Modificata lineage, a designation given to bespoke models that maximize performance free from technical and regulatory constraints. The car will be produced in extremely limited numbers for Club Competizioni GT, a non-competitive track event exclusively for customers.
The powertrain's dramatic performance upgrade is the centerpiece. The car is equipped with a 2.9-liter, 120-degree V6 engine that produces 730 horsepower at 7,500 rpm. It is 130 horsepower more powerful than existing race models subject to output restrictions, delivering a power-to-displacement ratio of 244 horsepower per liter. Ferrari redesigned the turbocharger's internal components and fuel-delivery system, while applying new gear ratios to the six-speed sequential transmission to push the limits of the drivetrain. As a result, the car cuts roughly three seconds off the Fiorano Circuit lap time set by the 296 GT3 Evo.
The aerodynamics and braking performance were also precisely refined for track driving. The front features a slotted splitter and a dedicated hood designed to aid heat dissipation, while a new rear wing controls vortices and increases downforce. The brake system combines steel discs with improved cooling efficiency and additional air intakes to maintain consistent braking performance under severe driving conditions. A sophisticated racing ABS system, designed to be controllable regardless of the driver's skill level, is also included.
The two-seat cabin is another notable feature, allowing passengers to share the driving experience. A passenger seat and an integrated intercom system enable real-time driving coaching from a professional instructor. Customers who purchase the car will receive access to 12 Club Competizioni GT events held over the next two years. The 2027 season program is scheduled to comprise seven events at renowned circuits around the world, beginning at Jerez Circuit in Spain and continuing at Fuji Circuit in Japan and Circuit de Spa-Francorchamps in Belgium.
