[Financial News] Bitcoin pulled back to around $76,000 ahead of the U.S. Senate vote on the Digital Asset Market Clarity Act, a U.S. cryptocurrency regulation bill.
According to CoinMarketCap, a global cryptocurrency information platform, Bitcoin was trading around $76,000 as of 10:20 a.m. on the 14th, down 0.75% from the previous day on a 24-hour basis. Bitcoin has fallen 4.02% over the past week.
Bitcoin was trading around 106 million won in the Korean won market. According to Cryprice, a global cryptocurrency market comparison platform, the Korean premium was 1.13%.
The market is watching whether the Digital Asset Market Clarity Act will pass the U.S. Senate at a vote scheduled for the 15th local time. According to foreign media reports, a new draft of the bill is currently being reviewed in the U.S. Congress.
At least 60 of the 100 senators must vote in favor for the procedural vote to pass. However, passage remains uncertain as Democrats and others have raised objections over ethical rules and other issues. Republicans currently hold 53 seats, meaning at least seven Democratic votes would be needed even if every Republican supports the bill.
The Federal Open Market Committee (FOMC), which meets on the 15th and 16th local time, is another variable. A hawkish decision by the Federal Reserve System (Fed) could weaken investor sentiment toward risk assets, including cryptocurrencies. The possibility of a policy rate hike has increased recently amid a sharp rise in international oil prices.
CoinMarketCap’s “Crypto Fear & Greed Index” stood at 66 on the day, indicating “greed.” The index ranges from 0 to 100: readings closer to 0 are interpreted as “extreme fear,” while those closer to 100 indicate “extreme greed.”
At the same time, Ethereum was trading around $2,477, down 1.90% from the previous day. Ripple (XRP) was trading around $1.34, down 1.72%.
