Busan Metropolitan City Government and the Busan Institute of Technology Entrepreneurship and Investment announced on the 14th that they had held the third Bugitech Investment Show on the 11th at the Eurasia Platform at Busan Station.
This year’s event brought together Busan Metropolitan City Government, the Busan Institute of Technology Entrepreneurship and Investment, Busan Techno Park, Busan Port Authority (BPA), Korea Maritime and Ocean University, and the Korea Institute of Marine Science & Technology Promotion to discover marine companies and support local businesses. The event also provided an opportunity to share efforts to expand investment resources and actual investment-attraction results.
First, Enlight Ventures held a ceremony to mark the formation of sub-funds totaling KRW 106.2 billion. The ceremony highlighted the creation of new investment resources to support expanded investment in local companies through funds established by Busan Metropolitan City Government.
Marine Drone Tech, which provides the Blue Scope fish-finding service for deep-sea fishing vessels, held a ceremony to mark its attraction of KRW 14.6 billion in investment. Notably, KRW 6 billion of the total came through Bugitech, making the achievement particularly significant as it demonstrated the program’s success in expanding connections between local companies and investors.
The main session featured investment presentations by nine companies in the marine and fisheries sectors, along with an on-site consultation session attended by 25 companies. A total of 32 consultations were held on investment, open innovation, and technology transfer, while investors requested 36 follow-up meetings, raising expectations for continued cooperation between companies and institutions.
Samsung Heavy Industries, HD Hyundai Heavy Industries, HD Hyundai Samho, Amorepacific, and LX Ventures participated in the open-innovation booths. Enlight Ventures and ZER01NE joined the investment consultations, while Korea Maritime and Ocean University took part in the technology-transfer consultations. The consultations were arranged through customized matching between companies and participating institutions based on a preliminary demand survey.
Kim Su-jin, president of the Busan Institute of Technology Entrepreneurship and Investment, said, "This year’s Bugitech Investment Show expanded its support beyond investment IR presentations and investment consultations to include open innovation and technology transfer." Kim added, "We will strengthen our role in connecting industry, academia, and research institutions so that local companies can grow through various means, including not only attracting investment but also pursuing technology cooperation and technology transfer."
