MAN Truck & Bus Unveils Full Range of 12- to 50-Ton Electric Trucks at IAA in Germany

[Financial News] The German MAN Truck & Bus Group is accelerating its transition to electrification by unveiling its full lineup of electric trucks, ranging from 12 to 50 tons, for the first time at the world's largest commercial vehicle exhibition. The company also plans to showcase a highly efficient new diesel powertrain, maximizing the efficiency of internal-combustion engines while presenting a commercial-vehicle electrification ecosystem encompassing ultra-fast charging and energy-management solutions.
MAN Truck & Bus announced on the 14th that it will participate in IAA Transportation 2026, which opened in Hanover, Germany, and showcase a full lineup of e-trucks ranging from medium-duty to heavy-duty models, along with next-generation transport technologies. The booth features electric trucks from the 12- to 50-ton class, including the medium-duty MAN eTGL, the medium- and heavy-duty MAN eTGM, and the heavy-duty MAN eTGS and MAN eTGX. The lineup covers vehicles tailored to various applications, from cab-chassis models for specialized equipment and heavy-duty tractors to construction dump trucks.
All electric truck models feature a modular system that allows customers to select the number of batteries according to their transport needs. MAN Truck & Bus has entered the full-scale commercialization phase by mass-producing approximately 1,300 heavy-duty electric trucks annually at its Munich plant. The flagship heavy-duty MAN eTGX and MAN eTGS support a megawatt charging system (MCS) rated at up to 750 kW, enabling the battery to charge from 20% to 80% in under 30 minutes when equipped with six battery packs. Their maximum range is 570 km on a single charge, allowing them to travel more than 1,000 km per day when European legally mandated rest periods are used.
MAN Truck & Bus is also pursuing efficiency improvements for internal-combustion trucks. The newly developed 13-liter MAN D30 diesel engine will be installed in the 40-ton-class TGX and TGS and will offer outputs ranging from 380 to 560 horsepower. The MAN D30 PowerLion powertrain, which combines a new transmission with an aerodynamic design, is expected to reduce fuel consumption and carbon emissions by up to approximately 5% compared with existing models, helping transport operators lower their total cost of ownership (TCO).
Driving-assistance and safety systems have also undergone extensive upgrades. MAN introduced MAN EfficientCruise, an intelligent predictive driving system that uses terrain information to reduce fuel consumption by up to 9%, the next-generation emergency braking assistance system MAN EBA Advanced, and a new driver-monitoring system. It also presented comprehensive operating solutions, including MAN Transport Solutions to support charging-infrastructure development, the MAN Charge&Go charging-network service, and the Smart Charging Cube mobile fast charger, which helps address power-grid constraints.
An upgraded version of the MAN TGE van, which marks its 10th anniversary since launch, was also unveiled. The company added the new Individual Lion X and Individual Black customized trims and made connectivity services with free map updates standard. During the exhibition, MAN Truck & Bus will also operate its own test-drive program, allowing visitors to experience and evaluate the driving performance of new electric and internal-combustion vehicles directly at the booth.
