Incheon Metropolitan City Government Conducts On-Site Inspections of 14 Public Facilities for Major Civilian Disasters in Autumn

[Financial News Incheon = Reporter Han Gap-su] Incheon Metropolitan City Government is launching safety inspections at 14 major public facilities in the region in preparation for increased public use of these facilities during the autumn season. Incheon Metropolitan City Government announced on the 14th that it will conduct on-site inspections from the 14th to the 22nd at bridges, fire station buildings, agricultural wholesale markets, research facilities, public sewage treatment facilities, public parking lots and sports facilities to prevent major civilian disasters during the autumn season.
The inspections were organized to verify the safety management conditions of facilities closely connected to citizens' daily lives and to identify and improve in advance potential risk factors that could lead to accidents.
The city inspects facilities subject to major civilian disasters at least four times a year and manages them by confirming the implementation of corrective measures after risk factors are identified.
In particular, this round will examine the structural safety of urban infrastructure that has endured summer heatwaves and torrential rains, while also focusing on risk factors associated with increased use ahead of autumn outdoor activities and the Chuseok holiday.
First, on the 14th, officials will visit four bridges—Jangsu Overpass, Jangsu 2 Bridge, Dambang 1 Bridge and Dambang 2 Bridge—to check for cracks and damage in major structural components and the condition of auxiliary facilities such as railings and drainage systems. They will also review past inspection results and repair and reinforcement records to assess the adequacy of safety management.
On the 15th, officials will inspect Namdong Gongdan 119 Fire Station and the Samsan Agricultural Products Wholesale Market Management Office, and on the 17th, the Fisheries Resources Research Institute and Jindoo Public Sewage Treatment Plant. On the 21st, they will inspect the Namhang Business Office and Unbuk Business Office sewage treatment plants and Unseo Station Public Parking Lot. On the 22nd, they will inspect Seobu 1 Bridge, Seobu 3 Bridge and Samsan World Gymnasium.
The city plans to immediately correct minor risk factors discovered during the inspections. For matters requiring repair or reinforcement, such as structural defects, it will conduct a detailed safety diagnosis and implement temporary safety measures before establishing an improvement plan. It will then continuously verify whether improvements have been made and track the situation until the risk factors are eliminated.
