[Financial News] Ottogi held a memorial service for its founder and Honorary Chairman Ham Tai Ho, paying tribute to his management philosophy of contributing to the nation through food and his spirit of sharing.
According to industry sources on the 14th, Ottogi held a memorial service on the 11th at Ham Tae-ho Hall in Anyang, Gyeonggi Province, to mark the 10th anniversary of the passing of its founder, Honorary Chairman Ham Tai Ho.
This memorial service was organized to look back on the life and legacy of Honorary Chairman Ham Tai Ho, who founded Ottogi and led the development of the domestic food industry, and to reflect on the founder's management philosophy, including the principle of quality first that he emphasized throughout his life, his sense of mission to improve dietary life, and his spirit of sharing.
Honorary Chairman Ham Tai Ho, born in Wonsan, South Hamgyong Province in 1930, founded Poongnim Sangsa, the predecessor of Ottogi, in 1969. Starting with 'Ottogi Curry' in the same year, he successively introduced soups, ketchup, mayonnaise, and vinegar, and subsequently developed instant foods represented by Ottogi 3 Min Curry.
Honorary Chairman Ham Tai Ho emphasized, "We must manufacture products with the mindset that they are food for our own families," and made quality the top priority in overall management. Furthermore, he put into practice the belief that companies must contribute to the nation, along with the spirit of "Food for the Nation" (Siksukboguk), which aims to contribute to national development by improving the quality of food.
His life as a benefactor who practiced sharing was also highlighted. In 1992, he began sponsoring children with congenital heart disease through the Korea Heart Foundation, and in 1996, he established the Ottogi Ham Tae-ho Foundation to focus on scholarship programs and academic support. His support for children with heart disease continues to this day, having gifted new life to a total of 6,783 children as of last August.
Continuing Honorary Chairman Ham Tai Ho's management philosophy, Ottogi opened Ham Tae-ho Hall at its Anyang plant this year, a heritage space that captures the history of Ottogi and domestic food culture.
Ottogi Chairman Ham Young-joon stated, "It is an important task to inherit and develop the founding spirit and management philosophy of founder Ham Tai Ho so that Ottogi continues to be a sustainable company regardless of who leads it," adding, "We will strive even harder to contribute to improving the dietary lives of humanity."
