[Financial News] People Power Party lawmaker Na Kyung-won called for Kim Seung-won, the nominee for Minister of Justice, to resign over allegations that he solicited approval for a new drug’s clinical trial, saying he was "unfit regardless of how you look at it."
On the 14th, Na Kyung-won wrote on social media, "It is said that 93 people were administered Kim Seung-won nominee’s drug, which was allegedly advanced through lobbying, after approval by the Ministry of Food and Drug Safety," claiming that it was "the drug whose deliberate omission of a hamster’s death during animal testing was exposed."
She continued, "The first reaction to nominee Kim Seung-won’s solicitation call was, ‘Once it is approved by the Ministry of Food and Drug Safety, we can make hundreds of billions of won,’" and criticized him, saying, "Money came before public lives. The successful lobbying was ultimately nothing more than a pursuit of vested interests that treated human lives as if they did not matter."
Na Kyung-won also questioned whether Kim Seung-won was aware of the relevant facts.
She asked rhetorically, "If nominee Kim Seung-won knew all of this, he is an accomplice to fraud and stock manipulation. If he did not know and was deceived by ‘oppa,’ wouldn’t that make him a fool?"
She then emphasized, "Unfit regardless of how you look at it. Resignation is the answer."
